BackZilla for Back Pain

The BackZilla Pain Community Will Help

For several weeks now i have been experiencing a dull painful throbbing in my mid-back on the left side. The area between my kidneys and my sholder. I havent done any strenuous activities to bring this on. And for some reason the pain seems to increase only at night. Since it isnt in my kidneys I can elimiante some reasons. I have been taking antiinflamitorys and have been stretching but nothing seems to be working. I set up a dr's appointment but the earliest he could get me in is 2 weeks from now. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can ease the pain for a little bit, just to make everyday functions a little more bearable??

I have this same problem. After a few hours of sleep, I get this dull ache in my left middle (flank) back area almost as if it is my kidneys. It feels worse when I enhale, and fades away within a few minutes but comes back all night. I never have it during the day. I have had a complete blood count, HIV test, CT scan, X-rays, and urinary culture and analysis. With these ruled out, Im not sure what could be causing this. I am a 27 yr old female, in shape and eat relatively healthy. Im also always tired...did you ever go back to the doctor???
yes i finally found out the reason for the back ache...turns out I am pregnant. wow what a surprise! I had never even thought of that!
I HAVE A TERRIBLE PAIN IN THE LOWER MIDDLE OF MY BACK ON THE LEFT SIDE. I CANNOT TURN OVER IN THE BED AND I CAN'T GET OFF THE BED. IT IS REALLY SCARY. CAN YOU HELP ME.
I have had terrible stabbing pain in my mid back left side. And I can usually take pain, but this is excruciating. It get worse when I breathe, cough or do any activity. I took ibuprofen, but it did not help. I was in acar accident 6 months ago and injured my left shoulder and wrist, but not my back. could this be related? I had always thought that strained muscles would cause soreness but not the kind of stabbing pain I have been experiencing.
Should I see an internist, a neurologist or an orthopedist?
I have been experiencing pain in my mid back, left side just under my rib cage for about three months. I thought it was a kidbey stone but believe it would have worsened by now or I would have passed it. The pain is stabbing and happens mostly at night and especially if I try to lay on my left side. other than in bed I have had the pain after sitting in a recliner reading and studying for several hours. I have not seen a doctor yet as Ive been waiting for insurance coverage I recently got and now am waiting for a few weeks to go by so it doesnt look like a pre existing condition. If anyone with these symptoms have been diagnosed I would like to hear about it,
Possibly a cracked rib??? Have you had a CT with Contrast?

I think I would start with a Pulmonologist - someone to look at your thoracic cavity.

A dull throbbing pain can be a symptom of any number of conditions. If the pain appeared suddenly, its possible that you pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve from a number of activities. The best thing to do until you see your doctor is rest, gently stretch and if you can put a warm heat patch on the area or a hot water bottle. Let us all know what your dr says!
